In the 16th minute, one of Kapiting:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Kapiting. In the 19th minute, EC Bahia's Yuri de Salles dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. In the 24th match minute, EC Bahia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Telmo Guimarães to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alexandre Teixeira in the 25th minute of play forced EC Bahia's goalkeeper David Lain to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jardel Esteves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Lain having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Abel Amaral to make the kick off. If Yuri de Salles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Kapiting getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Edmílson Paes hit a great ball. If Abel Amaral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute.
