But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Márcio Neves couldn't finish the play. 16 minutes into the game, Telmo Guimarães was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. EC Bahia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Nukengo SC the free kick. In the 17th match minute, EC Bahia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Telmo Guimarães to maneuver through the defense. In the 19th minute, Abel Amaral hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Márcio Neves in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck David Lain prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Toninho Gomes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Lain having to interfere. After the first half Nukengo SC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Márcio Neves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Victor de Queirós made in the 81st minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Abel Amaral however managed to control. In the 87th minute, Norberto Carioca hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nukengo SC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
