Carroll Hathaway made an important save on a dangerous shot by Remi Rassen in the 12th minute. Hernani Zonta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Flávio Reis in the 23rd minute of play. In the 28th match minute, Sipo EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rodolfo Porto to maneuver through the defense. Genílson da Rocha, 29 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. The audience was convinced that Flávio Reis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hernani Zonta was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. Flávio Reis charged in rather forcefully in the 38th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Hernani Zonta showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elói Ferreira in the 52nd minute of the match. 54 minutes into the game, Inter de Plataforma FC.'s Genílson da Rocha nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Carroll Hathaway made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when José Paulo Prata got free with Hernani Zonta in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Oséias Gerber in the 58th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hernani Zonta prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 59th minute, Armando Prado hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sipo EC's Carroll Hathaway played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elivélton Loyola in the 60th minute of play. 65 minutes into the match, Sipo EC's goal looked a bit too open when Remi Rassen came free, but Carroll Hathaway reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 67th minute, Elivélton Loyola ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Carroll Hathaway was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Carroll Hathaway took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Iwan Poling, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Inter de Plataforma FC. booed when Sipo EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Alberto Passos didn't get a good kick on the ball.
