In the 7th minute, Flávio Reis fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Fernando Lara, passed just outside the right post. 11 minutes into the match, Américo Marinho dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Fernando Lara, 2-0. With a little luck, Matungo Gaúcho's Fernando Lara got control of the ball when Américo Marinho tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 24th minute, José Paulo Prata left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sipo EC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. Matungo Gaúcho's Fernando Lara played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Américo Marinho in the 27th minute of play. Fernando Lara showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Paulo Prata, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. After some careless play in the Matungo Gaúcho defense, Flávio Reis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fernando Lara. The Matungo Gaúcho fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fernando Lara should have stopped the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Valdir Arósio got free with Fernando Lara in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Fernando Lara showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Paulo Prata, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Fernando Lara didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Américo Marinho went, in the 39th minute, to the upper right corner, 7-0 was the resulting score. José Paulo Prata scored 8-0 in the 48th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Fernando Lara, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 8-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Flávio Reis was the one to do the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Matungo Gaúcho's goal looked a bit too open when Flávio Reis came free, but Fernando Lara reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Américo Marinho took the ball and in the 55 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Fernando Lara. Fernando Lara breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Matungo Gaúcho's Fernando Lara played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Flávio Reis in the 68th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Sipo EC's Carlos Alberto Passos got a free kick in the 75th minute. Fernando Lara took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Paulo Prata, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Sipo EC booed when Matungo Gaúcho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nuno Arantes didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 83 minutes of play, Sipo EC's Américo Marinho made it 12-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fernando Lara was left in no man's land by his defense there! A collision led to Matungo Gaúcho getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Nuno Arantes hit a great ball. Fernando Lara made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oséias Gerber in the 98th minute of play. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Sipo EC had played much better football throughout.
