Manuel Dias started the match with the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Joel de Almeida in the 10th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Régis Moreira saved Vasco da Gama Clube from getting behind. Acara's Júlio de Toledo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 13th minute of the match, managed to save Acara from getting a goal against them. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Víktor Damião during the 17th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Vasco da Gama Clube's Fiori Rocha shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 18th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Júlio de Toledo but with some difficulty. After a rather tough play, Acara's Sandrinho de Andrade got a free kick in the 24th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Zé Carlos Tavares during the 26th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 33 minutes, Amadeu Maciel made it 1-2 with a short kick to the right side. Acara's Júlio de Toledo tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Vasco da Gama Clube's Amadeu Maciel got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Régis Moreira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel de Almeida, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. If Amadeu Maciel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 47 minutes, Joel de Almeida managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Acara's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joel de Almeida was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 53rd minute, Amadeu Maciel got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Manuel Dias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Umberto Falcão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel de Almeida in the 60th minute of play forced Vasco da Gama Clube's goalkeeper Régis Moreira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Acara's Joel de Almeida got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Manuel Dias's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Júlio de Toledo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 66th minute of play. Umberto Falcão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Régis Moreira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 72 minutes into the match, Vasco da Gama Clube's Manuel Dias sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Júlio de Toledo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Manuel Dias blasted a shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Júlio de Toledo having to make a save. After 76 played minutes Vasco da Gama Clube got a freekick which was hit by Zé Carlos Tavares. 79 minutes into the game, Acara's Umberto Falcão nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Régis Moreira made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Umberto Falcão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 84th minute, Gino de Andrade got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gino de Andrade charged in rather forcefully in the 85th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gino de Andrade the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 85 played minutes Vasco da Gama Clube got a freekick which was hit by Gino de Andrade. Albertinho Dantas was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 94th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The Acara players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
