The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd match minute, CR Independente was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlinhos Fernandes to maneuver through the defense. Pedro Augusto Alagoano took the ball and in the 8 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Carlos Alberto Sousa. Carlos Alberto Sousa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. With a little luck, CR Independente's Carlos Alberto Sousa got control of the ball when Pedro Augusto Alagoano tried to sneak it across the goal line. Carlos Alberto Sousa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pedro Augusto Alagoano in the 14th minute. Clemente Dantas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Alberto Sousa having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Irreal Madri ES ⚽'s Olavo Lara got a free kick in the 22nd minute. When Vítor Queirós fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CR Independente's protests and gave Vítor Queirós a yellow card for diving instead. After 26 played minutes CR Independente got a freekick which was hit by Vítor Queirós. The supporters of CR Independente booed when Irreal Madri ES ⚽ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Augusto Alagoano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carlos Alberto Sousa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedro Augusto Alagoano in the 33rd minute of play. Pedro Augusto Alagoanos short, quick shot in the 35thth minute got Carlos Alberto Sousa to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Delfim Melo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Carlos Alberto Sousa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 42nd match minute, Irreal Madri ES ⚽ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Antônio Carlos Barros to maneuver through the defense. CR Independente's Hermínio da Silva got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Carlos Alberto Sousa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pedro Augusto Alagoano's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. Irreal Madri ES ⚽'s Evandro Esteves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hermínio da Silva in the 58th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Pedro Augusto Alagoano in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Carlos Alberto Sousa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Carlos Alberto Sousa came out of the goal in the 63rd minute to try and stop a shot by Irreal Madri ES ⚽'s Delfim Melo. But to his dismay, Delfim Melo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. In the 66th minute, Pedro Augusto Alagoano ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Carlos Alberto Sousa was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. When Irreal Madri ES ⚽'s Pedro Augusto Alagoano in the 70th minute got a chance for a shot 70th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 92nd minute, Delfim Melo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Irreal Madri ES ⚽ fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0.
