In the 11th minute Rodriguinho Carneiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Alberto Sousa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to CR Independente getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Dalmo Mineiro hit a great ball. In the 19th minute, one of CR Independente:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for CR Independente. Jarl Vik walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. If Rodriguinho Carneiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vânderson Torres kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. Lavrador's Rodriguinho Carneiro got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to CR Independente getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Teodoro Castro hit a great ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Hermínio da Silva stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When the match had gone on for 71 minutes, Rodriguinho Carneiro took a quick shot and it went in 0-2 without a chance for Carlos Alberto Sousa to make any attempt to save it. In the 75th match minute, Lavrador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vânderson Torres to maneuver through the defense. Hermínio da Silva hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. After 78 played minutes Lavrador got a freekick which was hit by Rodriguinho Carneiro. In the 78th minute, Rodriguinho Carneiro fired away a hard free kick towards the goal. Carlos Alberto Sousa moved to his left, but didn't have to make a save as the ball went out of bounds. Rodriguinho Carneiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Alberto Sousa having to interfere. If Rodriguinho Carneiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Neymar Zika fell near the penalty area in the 95th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lavrador's protests and gave Neymar Zika a yellow card for diving instead. Neymar Zika kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. Lavrador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
