Esporte Clube Bahia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Natanael de Mendonça was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alfredinho Bezerra stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Virgílio do Nascimento's shot from short distance in the 62nd minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Esporte Clube Bahia's Paulinho Figueiredo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Alfredinho Bezerra.
