The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Manoel Proença made a precise shot to the right of Fernando Raffo. Mitnarotov FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. The supporters of Flamengo FC booed when Mitnarotov FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roberto Rivelino didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 25th minute of the match, Sílvio Dantas tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Serginho Azevedo saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Fernando Raffo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulino Sacristán in the 26th minute of play. In the 28th minute, Mitnarotov FC's Nildo de Souza dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. A collision led to Flamengo FC getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Christian Fantini hit a great ball. Fernando Raffo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christian Fantini in the 40th minute of play. Christian Fantini recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Paulino Sacristán had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ulysses de Moraes hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The wind increased when Paulino Sacristán made the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Mitnarotov FC's Fernando Raffo got control of the ball when Paulino Sacristán tried to sneak it across the goal line. Hortêncio Sena charged in rather forcefully in the 54th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Hortêncio Sena the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Mitnarotov FC getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Hortêncio Sena hit a great ball. Paulino Sacristán took the ball and in the 55 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Fernando Raffo. Fernando Raffo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. In the 60th minute, Paulino Sacristán left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Flamengo FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3. 69 minutes into the match, Hortêncio Sena notched a goal, 3-3, to the right of Flamengo FC's Serginho Azevedo. Serginho Azevedo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Serginho Azevedo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sílvio Dantas went, in the 75th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-3 was the resulting score. 80 minutes into the match, Mitnarotov FC's goal looked a bit too open when Paulino Sacristán came free, but Fernando Raffo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fernando Raffo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulino Sacristán in the 81st minute of play. Serginho Azevedo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sílvio Dantas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Sílvio Dantas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mitnarotov FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Sílvio Dantas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Serginho Azevedo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Mitnarotov FC booed when Flamengo FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Esbjörn Jakobsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Valdomiro Ferreira came up free with the goalie in the 98th minute, the Mitnarotov FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Valdomiro Ferreira couldn't finish the play. Mitnarotov FC's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
