Christian de Souza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Zerya Football Club's zone, Rony Varela stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gil Alagoano came out of the goal and Rony Varela tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rony Varela sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Christian de Souza scored 0-1 in the 35th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alfredão Lara, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 40 played minutes Clube Atlético Canhoba got a freekick which was hit by Samuel Coelho. Luiz Fernando Lira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Alfredão Lara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rony Varela's late challenge caught a Zerya Football Club's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Elias Aguiar hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Clube Atlético Canhoba's Alfredão Lara proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 58th minute of the match, managed to save Clube Atlético Canhoba from getting a goal against them. Christian de Souza who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 59thth minute tested the skills of Alfredão Lara when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Oscar Massa kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. In the 66th minute, Christian de Souza made a precise shot to the right of Alfredão Lara. Clube Atlético Canhoba's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. In the 97th minute, Christian de Souza got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
