In the 7th match minute, U21 Chile was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pierre Rosa to maneuver through the defense. Kaká Cosme got in the 10th minute a good position and tried a long shot which to a great surprise passed a very astonished Isidro Palmer. This was a shot which ended in a score of 1-0. If Clemente Freitas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Pierre Rosa succeeded in the game's 17th minute to get real power on a long shot . U21 Brazil's Pedro Paulo Cerezo hadn't the time to block the shot which was pasted into the goal, 1-1! A collision led to U21 Brazil getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Clemente Freitas hit a great ball. After 24 played minutes U21 Brazil got a freekick which was hit by Clemente Freitas. Juan Jose Villamil sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When U21 Chile's Rufino Nicoletti in the 25th minute got a chance for a shot 25th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 34th match minute, U21 Chile was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Teofilo Von Stillfried to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kaká Cosme in the 36th minute of play forced U21 Chile's goalkeeper Isidro Palmer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cristóvão Abraão succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-1 in the 36th playminute. Isidro Palmer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristóvão Abraão, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. In the 47th minute, U21 Brazil's Luiz Fabiano Teles seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Luiz Fabiano Teles the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of U21 Brazil protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Luiz Fabiano Teles had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch.

Isidro Palmer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nestor Quirino in the 53rd minute of play. In the 54th minute, Nestor Quirino got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 56 minutes, Clemente Freitas mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the U21 Brazil and the U21 Chile players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 56 played minutes U21 Brazil got a freekick which was hit by Clemente Freitas. In the 57th minute, Pierre Rosa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kaká Cosme in the 62nd minute of play forced U21 Chile's goalkeeper Isidro Palmer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 62nd minute, Kaká Cosme left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The U21 Brazil fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. Nestor Quirino took the ball and in the 67 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Isidro Palmer. Axel Chorroco replaced Juan Jose Villamil. Axel Chorroco struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Pedro Paulo Cerezo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Chile. When Rufino Nicoletti fell near the penalty area in the 84th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Chile's protests and gave Rufino Nicoletti a yellow card for diving instead. Rufino Nicoletti kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, U21 Brazil's Tales Lopez got a free kick in the 88th minute. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Brazil's zone, Axel Chorroco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedro Paulo Cerezo came out of the goal and Axel Chorroco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Axel Chorroco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Pedro Paulo Cerezo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 96th minute the ball was on its way in behind U21 Chile's goalkeeper Isidro Palmer, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.

U21 Chile's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
