Ben Gibbs charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. A collision led to T H F C getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Ged Pope hit a great ball. In the 29th minute, Hercule Alcaraz made a precise shot to the right of Ivan Stone. T H F C's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. In the 41st minute, Djamel Berlémont ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ivan Stone was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-3 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hercule Alcaraz to make the kick off. In the 59th minute the ball was on its way in behind En avant de guingamp's goalkeeper Xavier Freitas, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hercule Alcaraz in the 63rd minute of play forced T H F C's goalkeeper Ivan Stone to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ivan Stone made a fantastic save in the 67th minute, when Sammy Gantier sent off a good shot on target. Ivan Stone was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Sammy Gantier showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-5 in the 76 minute of play. In the 80th minute, Dion Kerridge made a precise shot to the right of Xavier Freitas. En avant de guingamp's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-5. After 92 minutes, Roger Crossley mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the T H F C and the En avant de guingamp players grew even worse after the yellow card. En avant de guingamp's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
