Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Rafinha Tande's late challenge caught a democrata's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rafinha Tande helped the player get up and apologised. When Percy Sampaio fell near the penalty area in the 6th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored democrata's protests and gave Percy Sampaio a yellow card for diving instead. Percy Sampaio hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. If Haroldo Medeiros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pedro Paulo Pinho struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Umberto Nogueira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for democrata. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Hélder Cardoso managed to get in a good position for a shot. Caracois's supporters rose to their feet, but Hélder Cardoso was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fábio Sabóia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Paulão Porto hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. Fábio Sabóia made a fantastic save in the 21st minute, when Afonso Moura sent off a good shot on target. If Afonso Moura had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fábio Sabóia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hélder Cardoso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, democrata's Delfim Barral got a free kick in the 30th minute. In the 31st minute, Américo Loyola hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Haroldo Medeiros kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Caracois defense, Delfim Barral kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Umberto Nogueira. The Caracois fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Umberto Nogueira should have stopped the shot. In the 40th minute, Caracois's Afonso Moura ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Fábio Sabóia. Fábio Sabóia yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. If Hélder Cardoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hélder Cardoso was the one to do the kick off. Hélder Cardoso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Hélder Cardoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Umberto Nogueira had in the 57thth minute some difficulties stopping Felipe Santos's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Delfim Barral hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. The supporters of Caracois booed when democrata was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sebastião Furtado didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 67th match minute, Caracois was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Agenor Fontes to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in democrata's zone, Hélder Cardoso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fábio Sabóia came out of the goal and Hélder Cardoso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 73rd minute, José Maria Loyola got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Hélder Cardoso recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 77 minutes, Delfim Barral mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the democrata and the Caracois players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to democrata getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Delfim Barral hit a great ball. Fábio Sabóia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hélder Cardoso in the 80th minute of play. Delfim Barral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Umberto Nogueira having to interfere. 85 minutes into the match, Caracois's Hélder Cardoso sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fábio Sabóia narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Adriano Loureiro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Umberto Nogueira read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. In the 87th minute, Paulão Porto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 93rd minute, Elano Arantes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
