The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Juninho Tinoco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 13 minutes into the match, Palmas FC Formosa's goal looked a bit too open when José Maria Ramos came free, but Alessandro Vale reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Rodriguinho Berger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 17th minute, Aílton Velloso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A throw-in in the 19th minute of the game was made by Roger Proença with Cristian Carioca as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Alessandro Vale came out of the goal in the 21st minute to try and stop a shot by Petróleo EC's José Maria Ramos. But to his dismay, José Maria Ramos quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in Petróleo EC's zone, Rodriguinho Berger stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Juninho Tinoco came out of the goal and Rodriguinho Berger tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Roger Proença made in the 27th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which João Paulo Marinho however managed to control. After having played for 32 minutes, José Maria Ramos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Petróleo EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but José Maria Ramos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 34 minutes into the game, Roger Proença was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Petróleo EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Palmas FC Formosa the free kick. A collision led to Petróleo EC getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. José Maria Ramos hit a great ball. 38 minutes into the match, José Maria Ramos notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Palmas FC Formosa's Alessandro Vale. Alessandro Vale was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Alessandro Vale stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of José Maria Ramos's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. Alessandro Vale came out of the goal in the 45th minute to try and stop a shot by Petróleo EC's José Maria Ramos. But to his dismay, José Maria Ramos quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. José Maria Ramos was the one to do the kick off. José Maria Ramos who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 51stth minute tested the skills of Alessandro Vale when he managed to save the team from getting behind. João Paulo Marinho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 58 minutes into the match, Palmas FC Formosa's goal looked a bit too open when José Maria Ramos came free, but Alessandro Vale reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Simão Vaz kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. 65 minutes into the match, Palmas FC Formosa's Rodriguinho Berger sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Juninho Tinoco narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 69 minutes into the game, José Maria Ramos lined in a short shot 0-4 behind a frustrated Alessandro Vale. With a couple of smart ball manuevers José Maria Ramos in the 73rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alessandro Vale saved Palmas FC Formosa from getting behind. In the 78th match minute, Petróleo EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Francisco Freitas to maneuver through the defense. Rodriguinho Berger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juninho Tinoco having to interfere.
