In the 41st minute, Haroldo Ribeiro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rubens Maia was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Through an outstanding action, after 45 minutes, Beto Leal successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Haroldo Ribeiro to make the kick off.
