Armando de Brito made an important save on a dangerous shot by Arí Brito in the 11th minute. Mané de Andrade showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Alberto Quirino in the 14th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Catole's Eduardo Moura got a free kick in the 21st minute. Carlos Alberto Quirino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Catole booed when Itaquarari was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rafinha Mineiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Catole's Ulysses Saraiva shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 28th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Armando de Brito but with some difficulty. When Rafinha Mineiro fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Itaquarari's protests and gave Rafinha Mineiro a yellow card for diving instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eusébio Baiano in the 31st minute of play forced Itaquarari's goalkeeper Armando de Brito to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 33rd minute, Arí Brito got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 35th minute, Carlos Alberto Quirino ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mané de Andrade was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Mané de Andrade came out of the goal in the 43rd minute to try and stop a shot by Itaquarari's Carlos Alberto Quirino. But to his dismay, Carlos Alberto Quirino quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Catole's Mané de Andrade played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wellington Barros in the 46th minute of play. After the first half Itaquarari were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Eusébio Baiano to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Alberto Quirino in the 51st minute of play forced Catole's goalkeeper Mané de Andrade to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 52nd minute, Eusébio Baiano made a precise shot to the right of Armando de Brito. Itaquarari's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. Catole's Mané de Andrade played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Alberto Quirino in the 58th minute of play. Wellington Barros could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Mané de Andrade made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Itaquarari's Júnior Lucas got a free kick in the 60th minute. After 62 minutes Itaquarari's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ulysses Saraiva who took care of the corner kick. The Itaquarari fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Armando de Brito should have stopped the shot. After having played for 83 minutes, Carlos Alberto Quirino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Itaquarari's supporters crossed their fingers, but Carlos Alberto Quirino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Catole's Mané de Andrade played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Alberto Quirino in the 85th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eusébio Baiano in the 96th minute of play forced Itaquarari's goalkeeper Armando de Brito to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
