After 19 minutes, Nicolas Dantas mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Poetass FC and the Oficial American Club players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 19 played minutes Poetass FC got a freekick which was hit by Nicolas Dantas. If Osvaldo Coutinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Poetass FC's Nicolas Dantas got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dalmo dos Santos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maurício Netto having to interfere. 42 minutes into the game, Arthur Vaz threw the ball into play from the sideline. Oficial American Club's Agostinho Souto quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nicolas Dantas to make the kick off. Adrianinho Monteiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Maurício Netto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Poetass FC's zone, Adrianinho Monteiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Maurício Netto came out of the goal and Adrianinho Monteiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vicente Freire charged in rather forcefully in the 62nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Vicente Freire the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 61 minutes into the game, one of Poetass FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the last second Maurício Netto throw himself and got hold of the ball when Adrianinho Monteiro in the 79thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. The supporters of Oficial American Club booed when Poetass FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Orlando Silveira didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Adrianinho Monteiro kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Maurício Netto. That made the score 0-3 in the 84 minute of play. A collision led to Poetass FC getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Arthur Vaz hit a great ball. Poetass FC's Maurício Netto proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 98th minute of the match, managed to save Poetass FC from getting a goal against them. When the final whistle sounded Oficial American Club left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Poetass FC.
