Augusto Toledo started the match with the kick off. Luís Fernando Simões hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. After having played for 5 minutes, Delmiro Bingen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mixto Esporte Clube's supporters crossed their fingers, but Delmiro Bingen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Olívio Vergílio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edinho Arantes, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. The audience was convinced that Delmiro Bingen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Olívio Vergílio was relentless in the 9th minute of the game. After 10 minutes of play, Mixto Esporte Clube's Edinho Arantes made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Olívio Vergílio was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 14th minute Delmiro Bingen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olívio Vergílio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Olívio Vergílio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dedé Viana in the 16th minute of the match. After having played for 21 minutes, Dedé Viana managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. When Eurico Paulista fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Flamengo RJ's protests and gave Eurico Paulista a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Mixto Esporte Clube booed when Flamengo RJ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eurico Paulista didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dedé Viana struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Olívio Vergílio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mixto Esporte Clube. In the 30th minute, Joel Sarmento hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Flamengo RJ's Olívio Vergílio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edinho Arantes in the 33rd minute of play. Joel Sarmento kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. Olívio Vergílio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Delmiro Bingen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 45 minutes of play, Mixto Esporte Clube's Edinho Arantes made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Olívio Vergílio was left in no man's land by his defense there! Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Edinho Arantes was the one to do the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Edinho Arantes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Olívio Vergílio. Flamengo RJ's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Edinho Arantes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. In the 56th minute, Delmiro Bingen left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Mixto Esporte Clube fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. Thanks to some nice moves Edinho Arantes could shoot a difficult shot in the 61st minute, which Olívio Vergílio however easily saved by the left post. Olívio Vergílio was a little too slow when Edinho Arantes got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 65th minute. The score was now 0-5. Olívio Vergílio came out of the goal in the 68th minute to try and stop a shot by Mixto Esporte Clube's Dedé Viana. But to his dismay, Dedé Viana quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-6. 72 minutes into the match, Augusto Toledo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Antônio Carlos Travassos. Mixto Esporte Clube's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Augusto Toledo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-6. In the 75th minute, Delmiro Bingen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Delmiro Bingen got free with Olívio Vergílio in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Olívio Vergílio made a fantastic save in the 78th minute, when Dedé Viana sent off a good shot on target. Olívio Vergílio made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dedé Viana in the 79th minute. Mixto Esporte Clube's Antônio Carlos Travassos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Fernando Simões in the 80th minute of play. After 83 played minutes Flamengo RJ got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Augusto Breckenfeld. Olívio Vergílio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Delmiro Bingen in the 85th minute of play. 92 minutes into the match, Flamengo RJ's goal looked a bit too open when Dedé Viana came free, but Olívio Vergílio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 93rd minute, Edinho Arantes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Mixto Esporte Clube fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-7. When the match was over Mixto Esporte Clube could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Flamengo RJ throughout the match.
