In the 8th minute, Piraputanga's Felippe Custódio seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Felippe Custódio the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Piraputanga protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Felippe Custódio had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 7 minutes into the game, one of Piraputanga:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 9th minute there was a penalty for São Paulo. Agostinho Vander stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Bruninho Jacinto. 0-1. Rodrigo Matei blasted a shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bruninho Jacinto having to make a save. Denny Arrese hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. In the 18th minute, Rodrigo Matei made a precise shot to the right of Bruninho Jacinto. Piraputanga's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Piraputanga's Bruninho Jacinto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rodrigo Matei in the 25th minute of play. 27 minutes into the match, Piraputanga's goal looked a bit too open when Agostinho Vander came free, but Bruninho Jacinto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Przemyslaw Pawlik managed to get in a good position for a shot. Piraputanga's supporters rose to their feet, but Przemyslaw Pawlik was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Damian Bologa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Agostinho Vander had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bruninho Jacinto came out of the goal in the 42nd minute to try and stop a shot by São Paulo's Agostinho Vander. But to his dismay, Agostinho Vander quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-3 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Christiaan Bruyninckx stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Piraputanga's Bruninho Jacinto proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Piraputanga from getting a goal against them. If Rodrigo Matei had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 62nd minute, Denny Arrese hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rodrigo Matei's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bruninho Jacinto read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Piraputanga's zone, Agostinho Vander stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bruninho Jacinto came out of the goal and Agostinho Vander tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Piraputanga's Przemyslaw Pawlik got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 73 minutes into the match, São Paulo's goal looked a bit too open when Christiaan Bruyninckx came free, but Damian Bologa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 75 minutes into the game, São Paulo's Agostinho Vander nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot.
