An unexpectedly hard shot by André Luís Cardoso in the 28th minute of play forced BURITIS FC's goalkeeper Penko Toninski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half BURITIS FC were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

BURITIS FC's Penko Toninski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by André Luís Cardoso in the 51st minute of play. João Adolfo Trigo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edson Azevedo in the 57th minute of play. After a rather tough play, BURITIS FC's Victor Godoi got a free kick in the 58th minute. 60 minutes into the match, BURITIS FC's goal looked a bit too open when André Luís Cardoso came free, but Penko Toninski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If André Luís Cardoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 67th minute Fabrício Zanette shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Penko Toninski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edson Azevedo took the ball and in the 70 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised João Adolfo Trigo. João Adolfo Trigo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-5. In the 75th minute André Luís Cardoso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Penko Toninski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Grêmio Carvoeiro FC's João Adolfo Trigo got control of the ball when Edson Azevedo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Grêmio Carvoeiro FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Edson Azevedo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-7. BURITIS FC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
