The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 13 minutes into the match, AOW FC's Hilário Fidalgo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Matias Onofre narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 28th minute, Hilário Fidalgo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Vilanovense Sport Club's Ivan Tinoco got a free kick in the 45th minute. Hilário Fidalgo might have been able to make a better finish in the 46th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Matias Onofre. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hilário Fidalgo ran back to his position shaking his head. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Matias Onofre was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a defensive mix-up in Vilanovense Sport Club's zone, Joaquim Ornelas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Matias Onofre came out of the goal and Joaquim Ornelas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vilanovense Sport Club's Matias Onofre played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hilário Fidalgo in the 76th minute of play. After 77 played minutes Vilanovense Sport Club got a freekick which was hit by Ivan Tinoco. After having played for 78 minutes, Joaquim Ornelas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. AOW FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joaquim Ornelas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Matias Onofre made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joaquim Ornelas in the 80th minute of play. Hilário Fidalgo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Matias Onofre read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play. Gervásio Varela sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hilário Fidalgo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Matias Onofre having to interfere. Hilário Fidalgo might have been able to make a better finish in the 93rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Matias Onofre. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hilário Fidalgo ran back to his position shaking his head. After 94 played minutes Vilanovense Sport Club got a freekick which was hit by Ivan Tinoco. There was no doubt that AOW FC were the better team. AOW FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
