A well-hit corner resulted in Konrad Maciejewski heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. After a defensive mix-up in ManU Zabrze's zone, Miroslaw Czerny stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Boruc Modrzewski came out of the goal and Miroslaw Czerny tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Miroslaw Czerny came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the El Opo Ardo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Miroslaw Czerny couldn't finish the play. Zdzislaw Gall received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Boruc Modrzewski tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Miroslaw Czerny struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Boruc Modrzewski didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for El Opo Ardo. 20 minutes into the match, El Opo Ardo's goalkeeper Mladen Ruzhinov had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Aleksander Rakowicz. Mladen Ruzhinov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cyryl Gibowski, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Mladen Ruzhinov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tolek Kornasiewicz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Boruc Modrzewski came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by El Opo Ardo's Miroslaw Czerny. But to his dismay, Miroslaw Czerny quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. In the 26thth minute of the game Miroslaw Czerny who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but ManU Zabrze's Boruc Modrzewski was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 28th minute Tolek Kornasiewicz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mladen Ruzhinov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 32 played minutes ManU Zabrze got a freekick which was hit by Bogdan Moryl. Miroslaw Czerny struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dariusz Kloczko got free with Mladen Ruzhinov in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tolek Kornasiewicz's late challenge caught a El Opo Ardo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tolek Kornasiewicz helped the player get up and apologised. In the 42nd match minute, ManU Zabrze was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tolek Kornasiewicz to maneuver through the defense. El Opo Ardo's Miroslaw Czerny got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

El Opo Ardo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zdzislaw Gall was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to El Opo Ardo getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Zdzislaw Gall hit a great ball. After 89 played minutes, ManU Zabrze's Sebastian Ruszczyk shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Mladen Ruzhinov came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in ManU Zabrze reached it. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Rudi Haan managed to get in a good position for a shot. El Opo Ardo's supporters rose to their feet, but Rudi Haan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Boruc Modrzewski breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 93rd minute, Rudi Haan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Karol Pawlak charged in rather forcefully in the 94th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Karol Pawlak the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of ManU Zabrze booed when El Opo Ardo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Karol Pawlak didn't get a good kick on the ball. Arkadiusz Brudnicki took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 94th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Mladen Ruzhinov. El Opo Ardo's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. El Opo Ardo's Mladen Ruzhinov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cyryl Gibowski in the 96th minute of play.
