Kersten Piter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ole Kühn, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. In the 6th match minute, Hüttenheim FSV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Theo Schmalzbauer to maneuver through the defense. Frederic Burkhard struck a weak shot in the 7th minute. Kersten Piter didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for TSV 1860 München. 11 minutes into the game, TSV 1860 München's Ole Kühn nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Kersten Piter made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. When the match clock showed 18 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Arthur Link sped through Hüttenheim FSV's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Kersten Piter. 23 minutes into the match, TSV 1860 München's Serge Kubat sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kersten Piter narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Arthur Link in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Kersten Piter prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to Hüttenheim FSV getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Joakim Ohme hit a great ball. Kersten Piter stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Arthur Link's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ole Kühn in the 31st minute of play forced Hüttenheim FSV's goalkeeper Kersten Piter to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Matthias Barnick fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kersten Piter having to interfere. In the 36th minute Flemming Fochler shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacek Rüschenbaum saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Flemming Fochler's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jacek Rüschenbaum was relentless in the 41st minute of the game. TSV 1860 München's Ole Kühn got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Flemming Fochler fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacek Rüschenbaum having to interfere. Kim Bugera received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Jacek Rüschenbaum tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Arthur Link hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. Ole Kühn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kersten Piter having to interfere. Kim Bugera recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Flemming Fochler received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Jacek Rüschenbaum tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hüttenheim FSV's defense didn't have a chance, in the 69th minute, when Arthur Link scored to the left of an out of position Kersten Piter, making the score, 0-3. Ole Kühn's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kersten Piter read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 75th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arthur Link in the 76th minute of play forced Hüttenheim FSV's goalkeeper Kersten Piter to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Matthias Barnick could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 79th minute of the match, but Kersten Piter made a huge save. When Arthur Link came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the TSV 1860 München fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arthur Link couldn't finish the play. Kim Bugera sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Kersten Piter was a little too slow when Arthur Link got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 86th minute. The score was now 0-4. Flemming Fochler sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Arthur Link fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kersten Piter having to interfere.
