After 7 played minutes Eräslahti IFK got a freekick which was hit by Santtu Viitanen. 9 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Metalupuass's Raine Kirjonen fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. After 10 played minutes Eräslahti IFK got a freekick which was hit by Jere Pasoja. With a little luck, Eräslahti IFK's Lari Kurri got control of the ball when Vesa Vähä tried to sneak it across the goal line. Lari Kurri stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Raine Kirjonen's shot from short distance in the 13th minute. Vesa Vähä received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Lari Kurri tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 35th minute, Santtu Viitanen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Eräslahti IFK's Kosti Rintala got a free kick in the 52nd minute. After some careless play in the Eräslahti IFK defense, Vesa Vähä kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lari Kurri. The Eräslahti IFK fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lari Kurri should have stopped the shot. 64 minutes into the match, Eräslahti IFK's goal looked a bit too open when Raine Kirjonen came free, but Lari Kurri reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Miika Santahuhta kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Tahvo Pentsinen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Toimi Lindberg having to interfere. Lari Kurri showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Raine Kirjonen, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute.
