The crowd rose to their feet as União São José FC's Cláudio Loyola slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Mark Webster. That made the score 1-0 after 33 minutes of play. The supporters of Billie Jean King Spirit booed when União São José FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Waldemar Zanette didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lauro da Silveira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Robert Billington in the 47th minute of the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

After 50 minutes, Andrew Brooks mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Billie Jean King Spirit and the União São José FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Billie Jean King Spirit getting a freekick after 50 minutes play. Andrew Brooks hit a great ball. In the 52nd minute Telmo Trevisan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mark Webster saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Andrew Brooks had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Robert Billington took the ball and in the 60 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Lauro da Silveira. Lauro da Silveira dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. União São José FC's Lauro da Silveira proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 67th minute of the match, managed to save União São José FC from getting a goal against them. The supporters of União São José FC booed when Billie Jean King Spirit was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kevin Harrison didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mark Webster made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cláudio Loyola in the 74th minute of play. Robert Billington struck a weak shot in the 79th minute. Lauro da Silveira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Billie Jean King Spirit. After having played for 83 minutes, Andrew Brooks managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Billie Jean King Spirit's supporters crossed their fingers, but Andrew Brooks was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Robert Billington sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice moves Andrew Brooks could shoot a difficult shot in the 86th minute, which Lauro da Silveira however easily saved by the left post. A hard shot by Andrew James from long distance, 88 minutes into the match, got Lauro da Silveira's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side.
