goods and bads of the new sim

Badge image
let us be fair to the new simulator and to the Mz crew, what they have done with the new Sim is improve the players movement and added a wing tactic. I thank them for that.

however the bad includes the change in a strikers mentality which makes them make back passes in one and one situations
2. they have made all Gk gods, allowing them to save 90% of one on one chances, which we all know in real life will and could never happen.
3. they have removed tackling for the defenders and have them instead look to intercept passes and read the game more. however the bad tackling now gives away too much penalties ( needs to be changed)
4.pinball!!!!!! the way these players pass the ball is completely robotic, players need to control the ball and then pass it, no need for one touch, not even Barcelona is that good.
5 short passing tactics completely abolished, why???

overall i like the changes but i think these changes should have just been an update to the old Sim instead of a complete change, defenders should tackle as well as read, Gk should get beat in 30% of one on one chances. strikers to stop playing back passes and shoot on sight of goal.

Lets all note that it is totally stupid to think the crew can change the sim midway the season so lets all just wait till seasons end to decide if we should quit the game

ok, I will wait, but knowing that my team will descend to 3rd div (thanks crew for having me know in advance that thanks to new SIM, my team has no possibilty of trying to remain in 2nd div)

The new sim have Lesser corner and lesser throw in :(

Re: goods and bads of the new sim

Badge image
Does it have throw-ins? I haven't noticed any. I've seen a few corners though.

Re: goods and bads of the new sim

Badge image
The new SIM is total unrealistic, it is boring but, nobody of the MZ Crew do something in order to fix it, bad, bad job gentlemen.

Re: goods and bads of the new sim

Badge image
well the old sim was total unrealistic as well. IMO the old sim was even more boring cos no one receives passes...

Re: goods and bads of the new sim

Badge image
If you had terrible players they wouldn't receive the ball. The old sim was way more realistic, you have no idea what you're talking about. The new sim should have just added a few touches like the wings, passing, etc. Instead they rearranged the whole thing and made it a boring "Atari-esque" game. Come on bestplaymaker sometimes you make zero sense, like you're on here to pick fights instead of talking like a normal grown-up.

Hi, in the European Championship semi-final match between Italy and Portugal, the new SIM has given us the beauty of 19 direct head shots on goal, 17 of these Skull Bash have started from the line of the area(!!!!!!!!!!!!), only 2 more near than the penalty spot ......... I am in a whole life that I follow the Italian league, I remember only one goal from the limit head, diving, made by a certain Marco van Basten...... in a FULL SEASON of Serie A I think there will be 2-3 attempts at goal from the line, of head, in only 1 match 17 ......... this SIM is literally ridiculous !!!!!!...how do you not see it.....

@kinetic

No I aint here to pick fights just saying what I think. The sim will always have problems. And Im just saying the new sim isnt as bad as what everyone thinks IMO.

Yes i know central strikes are pretty much useless without headers, but they finally "added" wing play. you get some you lose some.

and relax i aint 30

What's with the whole abbreviation thing? What is IMO? I'm relaxed, trust me, it's just funny reading a lot of your posts. Most are incomprehensible and meaningless. Not sure if you're trying to be funny or being sarcastic. No worries though, all good mate. You sure you're 30? ;)

Re: goods and bads of the new sim

Badge image
By the way, does heading work now? Or, at least, have the crew said something about it soon, so that heading should be given a try?

Re: goods and bads of the new sim

Badge image
Im ready to quit now as this has got further away from real football
It certainly isnt worth putting any money into anymore....

Re: goods and bads of the new sim

The good
1 passes are actually passes players dont go through the legs anymore .
2 I have had a total of 75 shots on gaol in the last 3 league games for a grand total of 3 goals compare this to 45 against for a total of 9 goals, in 1 game against the 2nd ranked team at the time 21 shots on gaol 16 on target 0 goals vs 15 shots on goal 11 on target 7 goals ? again against the 3rd ranked team at the time 30 shots on goal 21 on target 0 goals vs 17 shots on goal 7 on target 1 goal ?. Last league game 24 shots on goal 19 on target 2 goals vs 13 shots on goal 7 on target 1 goal . Add to this in one game alone 11 1on1 with the keeper ZERO goals . Against the current 4 top teams in my league i have had well over 100 shots on goal for a grand total of 0 goals no wins 4 loses .

Well, i dont spend a whole 10mins writing a post....so obviously it aint gonna be so detail for some ppl to understand.lol

Re: goods and bads of the new sim

kkostov....

The headers seem to be overdone because I have at least 20 headers a game easily with most of my goals scored by headers. It's funny to watch as once my striker heads in with not much strength it manages to bounce of the keeper or slip under him time after time. The way goals are scored now are more ugly every time. I have only seen a handful of decent goals in the over 100 games watched (too much time on my hands I know). I sincerely hope the "krew" isn't trying to change stuff as we speak because that will only mean that anything we think we have managed to understand would ultimately be changed. This sucks arse, I'm going to wait it out until next season if there's no sensible change I'm trashing my team more than it already is.

Try My team Vs Last 3 League games my team shots on gaol 75 for 2 goals scored Vs opposition 45 shots on goal for 9 goals ?
Also to add to the frustration against the TOP 4 team's in the league a total of 102 shots on goal for ZERO goals VS opposition 66 shots for 11 goals .
This includes 88 shots on goal for ZERO goals scored VS Top 3 Teams at the Time 45 shots on goal for 9 goals.
Oh and check out my strikers not 1 below a million . And one more rediculous scenario try this, in one half of a game a total of 8 1 on 1's with the keeper with ZERO goals scored final outcome realised 30 shots on goal for 0 goals Vs 15 shots on goal for 7 goals this includes 22 shots on target compared to 11 . Do i have a theory yep YOUR CARDS ARE MARKED before you even start the season how else can you have a striker that scores 50 odd goals 1 season but has scored a grand total of 2 this season ?

Re: goods and bads of the new sim

well if you didnt get it the first time i just doubled up :)

Re: goods and bads of the new sim

Badge image
well, i guess we just wait for the next sim

Re: goods and bads of the new sim

Badge image
Its not all bad, the passing at the moment is a positive. Rather simple really get good players to do what they are supposed to do, not get any player and he will do the same as the next .That brings the game down to a lottery dont you think ?

Player value = quality =team ability=results=wins =promotion quite simple really every team from Man U to Barca use it :)

Re: goods and bads of the new sim

Badge image
ok lets just say this. never wanted to reveal my secret but the only tactis that works is wing and its a 4 3 3 with the forwards being wing breakers (playing in from wide positions) with two of the three in midfeild in attacking wide positions and a DM. it will create more chances just hope your forwards can hit them

Re: goods and bads of the new sim

a friend of mine uses it and it works for him against teams of equal value

Re: goods and bads of the new sim

@pato

yup, it works.

@ CREW
The passing would be great, except the reaction of players being passed toward. Too often the player receiving the ball, and the guy covering him, watch the ball slowly stopping behind him, even when he's on the wing and there is no one else between him and the out-line. Please at least animate them turning and struggling for the ball...

Also, I intentionally broke my tactics this last league game, to see if I could attack using a 3-2-5, knowing i was giving the opposition a great number of one on one chances, if they took them.
match # 522730563 EagleAFC v Rector

They took about a quarter of these chances to drive one-on-one, despite their teammates being covered, and themselves being 20 yards from the penalty circle, in the middle of the field, with the nearest defender behind them and yards away.

-->They would instead pass into coverage nearly 3/4 of the time. <----

To be fair, they scored alot of goals, but to be honest, they should have had alot more shots.

I also had my smartest defender in center, get up from a slide tackle in the middle of the field, and run away from the ball and away from his center line, while the ball was moving centrally toward my goal.

Ultimately, the new sim gives me headaches wondering how any team, even those that are beating me, can be so dumb. Thanks for working at it, but whatever upgrade progress on individual stats was made, has been offset by the silliness in needless passing. Both the breaking of ground passing and the boost to crosses AND the needless back/side passing of players who are otherwise wide open are nearly maddening..

When your teammates are covered (doubly even) and nobody is challenging you, and the only person between you and the goal is the keeper, possession, even for just another 14 yards of movement, or just sitting still with the ball, is really the only logical option.

Please turn the training influence down and let the game by game logic work.

Please turn down the desire to pass (the pinball effect) and let the spacing of the field at that moment have more determination on possession.

Also,
Where is the Possession play option? "Defensive" isn't the same in my mind, as you can be Possessive and still be attacking.

Also,
Perhaps next time a major change in tactics is coming, drop the outline of proposed changes two seasons in advance, so that we can train our players toward those skills? Joined the game when short ground passing was the way to win, and now all those balls in passing are useless, even from my best passers. That is pretty frustrating.

Thanks guys.

Yes, it would be good to make players possess the ball longer if unopposed. This will both reduce the number of needless passes, passing back and so on, and will also create more qualitative attacking chances - both a higher number and higher quality ones in the same time. Such a change will also make different tactical lineups work in a different way. It will also make the game look more realistic and interesting.

I think making players possess the ball if unopposed is not only good, but it should be easy to implement, especially after other similar mechanisms have already been said to have been implemented (players trying to take control of a cross ball instead of heading it away if unopposed).

Re: goods and bads of the new sim

Both great points. I think what still drives me crazy is that you rarely see a pass on the ground anymore. Most passes look like they're playing hacky-sack, all in the air. A lot of times a player will want to pass to a wide open player and lob it and give the ball away, or the player receiving will run away from the lob. I remember the days when ground passing was great in this game even when players would let balls thru their legs (pardon the pun), or miss the pass as they stand still.
2- As apwall21 stated, their is no possesion-type tactic, you can either choose hacky-sack/ basketball passing, long balls (which does nothing but lose the ball because I never see any long balls) or wings which seems to be the only feasible working tactic. Their is an overenphasis on playing the wide open winger to lob the ball in and the striker wants to head the ball everytime! It's almost like the goals are worth double if you head them in.
3- The "letting off the gas pedal win winning mode" that is implemented is terrible. This only lets the other team build up to catch up to you.
4- I still see defenders/midfielders not challenge a player with the ball (all with more than 8 tackling, good PI, etc) they will just stand still while the opposing player walks by them. To add to this, many times I've seen an attacker receive a pass and a defender not try to cut the attacker's angle off instead he runs to the attacker's rear only to give the attacker open road to run with the ball, just kills me.
5- Goalkeeping......well, there may have been the improvement on gk recovery on shot blocks SOMETIMES, I have seen some saves where the ball still will sit next to gk only to have either a defender come and blast it out of danger or an attacker come in and shoot it back into the gk's hand almost in full mercy. The worst part of the goalkeeping issue (in my eyes) is the saving amazing shots but then letting in the most horrific goals right after. Shots right at keepers, next to them or the ones that seem to slip right out of their hands. Many of these are including penalty shots.
That's just my 2 cents, thanks for reading.

Re: goods and bads of the new sim

wouldn't be better if the sim set the ball "free", with no predeterminated orders? So, players act according to their skills, and decide by the way if its better long or shot passing, or going right to the goal, or whatever. The 3D game is only a representation, or it is exactly how the sim works?, because I think it would be better to simplify the program.

Re: goods and bads of the new sim

Badge image
like to see accurate passes but this ping pong ball game is an insult to football, players arent robots.
2 there is a complete lack of strikers instinct in the game now, strikers should shoot on sight if they are inside or on the edge of the box and from long distance mainly on break away chances. long range goals are for midfeilders with tremendous shootin ability
3 defenders still need tackling, no reason to have a ten ball defender getting beat as easy as they do now. however thanks for the boost in intelligence allowing them to read and intercept passes.

i really do wonder if the goods we see in this sim was added to the old sim as an update, how great this game would be.

A lot of comments for many users and like always, Patrick and his Crew always make that they want to do, no matter our comments, what a shame !
We need to quit MZ as soon as possible.

i prefer the present one

Re: goods and bads of the new sim

this isn't pinball... i don't know what vision you have of football, but with this beta sim, it looks more like, pinball and hockey all mixed together, and 22 monkeys bouncing the ball back and forth, more that than football... Just leave it as it is, don't spank the monkey no more EVERY 2 SEASONS, and just put some more inteligence on the strikers so that they don't backpass in front of goal. THAT STUPID CRAP IS WHAT U SHOULD BE IMPROVING AND NOT CHANGING A FOOTBALL SIM INTO A PINBALL SIM. OMG where is this game going...

Re: goods and bads of the new sim

Badge image
guys it takes time, help by writing points for improvement.fretting wont help

NEEDS CHANGES
1 wing backs still dont come in to support CD if hes out of position

2 now placing strikers wide doesnt help which is sort of gd abt current sim.

3 i have seen one of my strikers with gd speed n stamina but 2-3 in tackle tackle def n wining the ball.his def have more BC.
gd point though that tackle for strikers have been considered.

4 didnt notice any difference between short n long passing.wing is useless now.

5-- 3 def tactics seems to work better than 4 def in this sim. it wld be grt if each formations weakness can be exploited.with wing not working now.3 def seems to be the top draw.

6 sim penalty for red card is low.

GD ENOUGH
1 short passing
2 passing with head.
3 stamina decrease with time.

suggestions for long,short n wings.
long--- playing long balls to strikers my mids
short--ok.no. of passes near the goal area needs to be reduced..
wing--players passing mostly to the wide players n having tendency to run wide n put in crosses.

Ce: goods and bads of the new sim

i think the worst thing about new sim is;all the players can control balls from air easily, free from their ball control skill.and that made the wings tactic the best for more shoots.one centre forward takes all the balls from air and shoots.if the player's control skill would be effective at this stage it would be more realistic.so wing tactics will work well if you have a really good striker.
