retired player coach hiring

i was wondering what is the difference between appoint and convert ? some retired player have one or the other.i was wondering what is the difference between appoint and convert ? some retired player have one or the other.

Before you can have retired player as coach you need to pay one time fee (5 tokens if I remember correctly) to convert him to coach. After that you can appoint him as coach even when his contract expires!
