my preference, but sometimes I can not get players with this quality by the market value.

Very dependant on what tactic you use and your ambitions.

In general: speed, stamina, tackling, ball control, passing and aerial passing. Plus all players require Player Intelligence and experience to be effective

i value stam. play int. passing. BC and crossballs on my midfeilders. nice to haves is
(but makes the player more exspensive ) speed shooting tackle

I do like a midfielder well rounded. I guess he would look rather similar to a defender, however with a little more BC and over all passing skills compared to tackling.

I look for passing, PI and BC, and then train him like a defender.

they say it depends on the tactics and that is right. for me i think midfielders need to have good speed and but not necessarily better than defenders because defenders need to be fast to catch up with strikers. midfielders are the bridge between the defenders and strikers. to me midfielders are the guys that maintain the possession of the ball and orchestrate the play of the game. to do that, they need to be strong in tackling to win balls back. they need to have good speed and better stamina to go after opposing midfielders and try to win possession. without possession, you can simply forget about goals. simple as that. so at this point midfielders need to have speed, stamina, play intelligence to orchestrate the play and tackling to win possession. but i must emphasize that tackling for midfielders are not as important as that for defenders. they can be as good as the defense or slightly weaker but there's no need for their tackling to be better than your defenders. so these are 4 core attributes for midfielders. how about the rest? shooting? it depends on their positions. if they are attacking midfielders, yes you can sharpen their shooting balls. heading? nope. i don't emphasize that in my club because i don't see the point. ball control? depends on whether they are playing on the wings. if you play wings, ball control is now your fifth core attribute after tackling. aerial passing? well if you play wings, that is your sixth core attribute. set play? well it is a wild card. just pick somebody to train on that for your free kicks. by the way, in free kicks, player must be good in set play, aerial passing and ball control as well.
