In a close game a defender with no successful passes or tackles wins man of the match.
Firstly, has anyone ever seen this before, and secondly, do man of the match and player in game rating need to be revised.
Because this shouldn't happen.

interceptions of defenders(and not only defenders) count more than successful tackling/passing when it comes to MZ rating
yes and yes
until it gets fixed, try not to use the MZ rating value the same way we use it in real life

He had 12 interceptions and was the only defender to have 1 shot to goal and it was on target also, to add you didn't score any goals and the match was very bad, so I dont see it as something illogical.

That may be the case, but interceptions mean nothing if you can't find a target with your pass. Maybe we should count turnovers as well, because he would have probably topped that statistic as well.
It's an U21 game, so you are dealing with players of limited skill sets, and yes I know the MZ world is very different from reality.
This just highlights how far removed from reality we really are. In real life this guy would have been subbed of the field probably before half time. He was playing that badly. Yet here, man of the match.
