João Carlos Pombal could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 6th minute of the match, but Romeu Pombal made a huge save. Aloísio da Rocha charged in rather forcefully in the 7th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Aloísio da Rocha the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 7th minute, Aloísio da Rocha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 8 minutes into the match, Grêmio F.C's goalkeeper Romeu Pombal had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by João Carlos Pombal. If Delfim Sampaio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. João Carlos Pombal in the 18thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Delfim Sampaio to make the kick off. 59 minutes into the match, Silvério Dionísio notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Grêmio F.C's Romeu Pombal. Romeu Pombal was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Silvério Dionísio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. João Carlos Pombal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Romeu Pombal having to interfere. João Carlos Pombal's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Romeu Pombal read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. 87 minutes into the match, Grêmio F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Silvério Dionísio came free, but Romeu Pombal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
