Davie Selke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vladimiro Guzman having to interfere. 16 minutes into the game, Jules Schäppi cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Vladimiro Guzman was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ramon Giacomozzi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vladimiro Guzman having to interfere. John McClain took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Matías Bonifaco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, U21 Argentina's Vladimiro Guzman got control of the ball when Jules Schäppi tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 31st play minutes Diego Armando Maradona shot 1-1, a short shot which went by John McClain and just under the crossbar into goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jules Schäppi got free with Vladimiro Guzman in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the match had gone on for 37 minutes, Davie Selke put it in 2-1 from a short distance just to the right of Vladimiro Guzman. With his leg Vladimiro Guzman managed to avoid a goal in the 40thth minute, when U21 Switzerland's Davie Selke fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. U21 Argentina's Vladimiro Guzman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Davie Selke in the 41st minute of play. John McClain made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Diego Armando Maradona in the 43rd minute of play. Davie Selke came free with the goalkeeper in the 44th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Vladimiro Guzman could save by the left post. In the 45th match minute, U21 Argentina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Matías Bonifaco to maneuver through the defense. Vladimiro Guzman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jules Schäppi in the 46th minute of play. In the 47th minute Jules Schäppi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vladimiro Guzman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

U21 Switzerland's Tiro Grande was substituted for Stephane Pfäffli. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Davie Selke to strike the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, U21 Argentina's goal looked a bit too open when Davie Selke came free, but Vladimiro Guzman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vladimiro Guzman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jules Schäppi in the 54th minute of play. In the 57thth minute of the game Davie Selke who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but U21 Argentina's Vladimiro Guzman was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Diego Armando Maradona recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the U21 Argentina defense, Jules Schäppi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vladimiro Guzman. The U21 Argentina fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vladimiro Guzman should have stopped the shot. U21 Switzerland's Carlo Cockane was substituted for Eduardo Buck. 69 minutes into the match, Ramon Giacomozzi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vladimiro Guzman. U21 Argentina's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ramon Giacomozzi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1. U21 Argentina made a substitution. Maximo Oalo replaced Matías Bonifaco. U21 Argentina's Florencio Lartaun was substituted for Lucio Roldan. John McClain was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Maximo Oalo showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 4-2 in the 74 minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Davie Selke in the 77th minute of play forced U21 Argentina's goalkeeper Vladimiro Guzman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vladimiro Guzman stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Davie Selke's shot from short distance in the 83rd minute. Maximo Oalo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but John McClain read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 88th minute of play. Vladimiro Guzman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ramon Giacomozzi in the 89th minute of play. In the 91st minute the ball was on its way in behind U21 Switzerland's goalkeeper John McClain, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Mauro-Facundo Sánchez kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. With a little luck, U21 Switzerland's John McClain got control of the ball when Maximo Oalo tried to sneak it across the goal line. U21 Switzerland's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
