An unexpectedly hard shot by Fulgencio Falcão in the 13th minute of play forced U21 Turkey's goalkeeper Ali Macit İlican to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 15 minutes into the game, Güngör Uğurtay cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Jan-Simon Borginions was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Güngör Uğurtay's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jan-Simon Borginions read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 18th minute of play. Ali Macit İlican took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fulgencio Falcão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Silvain Van den Haute fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ali Macit İlican having to interfere. After a rather tough play, U21 Belgium's Jens Servrancx got a free kick in the 23rd minute. After 25 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for U21 Belgium! After taking down the ball on U21 Turkey's corner Önder Dafni fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Jan-Simon Borginions quite easily take care of the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cevahir Eskioğlu in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jan-Simon Borginions saved U21 Belgium from getting behind. The U21 Turkey fans' excitement grew in the 29th match minute when U21 Turkey's Cevahir Eskioğlu looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 33 minutes into the match, U21 Belgium's goalkeeper Jan-Simon Borginions had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Güngör Uğurtay. Ali Macit İlican took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Silvain Van den Haute, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 42nd minute Claude De Wever shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ali Macit İlican saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 44th minute, Fulgencio Falcão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Claude De Wever was the one to do the kick off. Karel-Jan Andriesens received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Ali Macit İlican tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. U21 Belgium's Bernd Van de Goor was substituted for Fulgencio Falcão. An unexpectedly hard shot by Önder Dafni in the 65th minute of play forced U21 Belgium's goalkeeper Jan-Simon Borginions to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. U21 Belgium's Christoffel Moerman was substituted for Roben Valckenaerts. The supporters of U21 Turkey booed when U21 Belgium was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roben Valckenaerts didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 69 played minutes U21 Turkey got a freekick which was hit by Doğuş Harmanda. Niel Van Linthout took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 70th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Ali Macit İlican. U21 Turkey's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After 74 played minutes U21 Turkey got a freekick which was hit by Turgut Şimşek. Christoffel Moerman kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. U21 Turkey's defense didn't have a chance, in the 83rd minute, when Bernd Van de Goor scored to the left of an out of position Ali Macit İlican, making the score, 3-1. In the 86th minute Önder Dafni shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jan-Simon Borginions saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. U21 Turkey's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Önder Dafni in the 86th minute. In the 90th minute U21 Belgium were awarded a corner. Niel Van Linthout went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on U21 Belgium's corner Niel Van Linthout fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Ali Macit İlican quite easily take care of the ball. U21 Turkey's Tómas Sivok was substituted for Doğuş Harmanda. U21 Turkey made a substitution. Hakan Hakan replaced Azmi Atay. The throw-in from Jens Servrancx in the 94th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by U21 Turkey's Oğuzhan Altun. U21 Belgium's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
