Malta's Cleaven Trevisan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Robbie Conochie in the 14th minute of play. Robbie Conochie might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cleaven Trevisan. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Robbie Conochie ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience was convinced that Robbie Conochie's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cleaven Trevisan was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. 22 minutes into the game, Robbie Conochie cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Malta's defense didn't have a chance, in the 67th minute, when Robbie Conochie scored to the left of an out of position Cleaven Trevisan, making the score, 0-6. Malta's Ryan Peplow was substituted for Gerard Christophoro. Robbie Conochie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 80th minute the ball was on its way in behind Malta's goalkeeper Cleaven Trevisan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Malta's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Thomas Moffat ran over to the corner to take the kick. It was a well-played corner which Robbie Conochie managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand.
