The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Carlo Campitelli took the kick off in the first half of the match. Florian Forlani made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristóvão Abraão in the 5th minute. U21 Brazil's Nestor Quirino got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 9 minutes into the match, U21 Brazil's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Formaggio came free, but Pedro Paulo Cerezo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pedro Paulo Cerezo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Formaggio in the 9th minute of play. 13 minutes into the game, U21 Italy's Beppe Perilli nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Pedro Paulo Cerezo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. The corner went over the outstretched arms of U21 Brazil's goalie and right to Alberto Formaggio. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. U21 Brazil's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Demetrio Angelini received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Pedro Paulo Cerezo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Válter Abreu charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Válter Abreu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to U21 Brazil getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Válter Abreu hit a great ball. Carlo Campitelli kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. In the 29th match minute, U21 Brazil was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Clemente Freitas to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of U21 Italy booed when U21 Brazil was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Artur Breckenfeld didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alessandro Melone succeeded in the game's 31st minute to get real power on a long shot . U21 Brazil's Pedro Paulo Cerezo hadn't the time to block the shot which was pasted into the goal, 0-2! Florian Forlani made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Cristóvão Abraão sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, U21 Italy's Alberto Formaggio got a free kick in the 39th minute. After 41 played minutes U21 Italy got a freekick which was hit by Carlo Campitelli. Artur Breckenfeld struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Florian Forlani didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Brazil. After a rather tough play, U21 Brazil's Kaká Cosme got a free kick in the 45th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Artur Breckenfeld made a kick off. If Cristóvão Abraão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 50th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 53rd minute, Kaká Cosme made a precise shot to the right of Florian Forlani. U21 Italy's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. 58 minutes had been played when some careless play by U21 Italy's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Clemente Freitas was slow to take the kick. During this time U21 Brazil's players had a chance to rest. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Carlo Campitelli during the 65th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 65th minute, Carlo Campitelli hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. U21 Brazil's Kaká Cosme got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. U21 Italy made a substitution. Diego Maccarone replaced Alberto Formaggio. U21 Italy made a substitution. Edoardo De Lucia replaced Demetrio Angelini. U21 Italy's Florian Laudadio was substituted for Beppe Perilli. U21 Brazil made a substitution. Toninho Dias replaced Luiz Fabiano Teles. U21 Brazil made a substitution. Tiaguinho Varela replaced Clemente Freitas. Diego Maccarone who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 74thth minute tested the skills of Pedro Paulo Cerezo when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After a rather tough play, U21 Brazil's Nestor Quirino got a free kick in the 75th minute. Nestor Quirino hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. The U21 Italy fans' excitement grew in the 77th match minute when U21 Italy's Florian Laudadio looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After a rather tough play, U21 Brazil's Toninho Dias got a free kick in the 81st minute. A collision led to U21 Brazil getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Artur Breckenfeld hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Diego Maccarone in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pedro Paulo Cerezo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Florian Forlani showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kaká Cosme, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. In the 90th minute, U21 Brazil's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Carlo Campitelli fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 90th minute, Florian Laudadio ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Pedro Paulo Cerezo was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. 95 minutes into the match, U21 Brazil's Cristóvão Abraão broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal.
