After some careless play in the Barr Point defense, Gerardo Jaunti kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Billy Metcalf. The Barr Point fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Billy Metcalf should have stopped the shot. Billy Metcalf stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gerardo Jaunti's shot from short distance in the 17th minute. 20 minutes into the match, Phil Panther dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Zeledon Gartzen, 1-2. Billy Metcalf made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gerardo Jaunti in the 23rd minute of play. In the 33rd minute Gerardo Jaunti shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Billy Metcalf saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 35 minutes, Paddy Bastow managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Barr Point's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paddy Bastow was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gerardo Jaunti in the 38th minute of play forced Barr Point's goalkeeper Billy Metcalf to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The wind increased when Gerardo Jaunti made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gerardo Jaunti in the 53rd minute of play forced Barr Point's goalkeeper Billy Metcalf to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gerardo Jaunti might have been able to make a better finish in the 66th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Billy Metcalf. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gerardo Jaunti ran back to his position shaking his head. 71 minutes into the game, Paddy Bastow was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Barr Point's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Deportivo Messina the free kick. After 71 played minutes Barr Point got a freekick which was hit by Paddy Bastow. When Phil Panther fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Barr Point's protests and gave Phil Panther a yellow card for diving instead. In the 78th minute, Geoff Brent hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Serafino Weather struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Billy Metcalf didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Deportivo Messina. Angelino Dominic received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Billy Metcalf tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Deportivo Messina played a much better game than Barr Point and deserved their victory. The Barr Point players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
