Kurt Söderström dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-1. When the match clock showed 28 minutes, the score became 5-2 when Jens-Ove Ahlberg sped through S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Fausto Ferraz. In the 33rd minute, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Marcel Abreu ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Kurt Söderström. Kurt Söderström yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 6-2. Marcel Abreu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kurt Söderström having to interfere. In the 40th match minute, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ramiro de Lima to maneuver through the defense. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 6-2 at half-time.

The wind increased when Marcel Abreu made the kick off in the second half. Joakim Hurtig's late challenge caught a S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Joakim Hurtig helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of S.E.R. Jörn Stenquist lost his temper 89 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 98th minute Rui da Costa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kurt Söderström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The S.E.R. Caxias do Sul fans cheered their team off the field, for while Öjeby IF had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
