In the 5thth minute of the game Ettore Placidi who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Vascogoianiense FC's Nelsinho Leite was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Falcão de Godoi hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. In the 7th minute the ball was on its way in behind Vascogoianiense FC's goalkeeper Nelsinho Leite, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Nelsinho Leite stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ettore Placidi's shot from short distance in the 9th minute. 11 minutes into the match, Vascogoianiense FC's goal looked a bit too open when Antonio Mastrocola came free, but Nelsinho Leite reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dave Clemente was out of position in the 16 minute of play, and Matheus Neto capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Matheus Neto really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. A collision led to Glasgow Rangers FC getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Nestor Lauaxeta hit a great ball. Antonio Riccitelli fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nelsinho Leite having to interfere. A nice corner shot did that Aírton Sousa got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Dave Clemente quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 36th minute Antonio Mastrocola shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nelsinho Leite saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Ettore Placidi's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nelsinho Leite was relentless in the 40th minute of the game. In the 44th minute Matheus Neto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dave Clemente saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Aírton Sousa in the 90th minute of play forced Glasgow Rangers FC's goalkeeper Dave Clemente to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dave Clemente took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Pirani, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Glasgow Rangers FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
