Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Vatan Kambay to make the kick off. Ergo Muro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tony Mendes in the 52nd minute of play. Caatiba MZC's Nuno Mattos was substituted for Niceto Ihazintu. After having played for 76 minutes, Rodriguinho Linhares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Caatiba MZC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rodriguinho Linhares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Caatiba MZC's Fernando Hierro managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by João Carlos Medeiros in the 80 minute of the game.
