The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee ignored Tallboda Gunners's protests and gave Sören Arenstedt a yellow card for diving instead. In the 10th minute, Sören Arenstedt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nils-Erik Unesson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Henning Hernström having to interfere. The supporters of Tallboda Gunners booed when IFK Kik was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tómas Zybtsev didn't get a good kick on the ball. 19 minutes into the match, Tallboda Gunners's goal looked a bit too open when Nils-Erik Unesson came free, but Henning Hernström reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Olov Eklund kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Tallboda Gunners's Henning Hernström played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nils-Erik Unesson in the 23rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Karl-Erik Ahlbom in the 26th minute of play forced IFK Kik's goalkeeper Fredrik Bergqvist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The IFK Kik fans' excitement grew in the 27th match minute when IFK Kik's Leonard Uggstedt looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. IFK Kik's Fredrik Bergqvist proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 31st minute of the match, managed to save IFK Kik from getting a goal against them. IFK Kik's Leonard Uggstedt got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Nils-Åke Broberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 41st minute, Leonard Uggstedt left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The IFK Kik fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Leonard Uggstedt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Henning Hernström tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After some fancy dribbling in the 62nd minute, Karl-Erik Ahlbom managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tallboda Gunners's supporters rose to their feet, but Karl-Erik Ahlbom was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fredrik Bergqvist breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Erling Bolin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. With an all-out effort, IFK Kik's Henning Hernström threw himself towards the right post 86 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Leonard Uggstedt, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Nils-Erik Unesson's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 89thth minute, Henning Hernström skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Fredrik Bergqvist showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Karl-Erik Ahlbom in the 90th minute of the match. Tallboda Gunners were awarded a corner in the 92th minute after IFK Kik's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Wiktor Wallander took the corner. Martin Björck thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Fredrik Bergqvist, a very annoying self made goal in the 92nd minute which led to 2-2. In the 95th minute, Leonard Uggstedt left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The IFK Kik fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3.
