The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Aristides Espírito Santo during the 10th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 10th minute, Aristides Espírito Santo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Normando Patrício fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s protests and gave Normando Patrício a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 12th minute of the game. One of Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Ponte do Carro:s goal. In the 20thth minute of the game Valdemar Anjos who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s Albérico Igrejas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Ponte do Carro's Humberto Mascarenhas in the 23rd minute got a chance for a shot 23rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s goalie prevented a goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Humberto Mascarenhas in the 33rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Albérico Igrejas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Moisés Guerra showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aristides Espírito Santo in the 38th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Ponte do Carro's Valdemar Anjos got a free kick in the 46th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Aristides Espírito Santo to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. booed when Ponte do Carro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristóvão Caetano didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Aristides Espírito Santo came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aristides Espírito Santo couldn't finish the play. Valdemar Anjos's late challenge caught a Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Valdemar Anjos helped the player get up and apologised. In the 64th match minute, Ponte do Carro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Valdemar Anjos to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Reinaldo Calado during the 65th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Jairo Anjos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jairo Anjos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 69th minute of the match, but Moisés Guerra made a huge save. A collision led to Ponte do Carro getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Jesualdo Valadão hit a great ball. Albérico Igrejas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Humberto Mascarenhas, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. 75 minutes had been played when some careless play by Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Jesualdo Valadão was slow to take the kick. During this time Ponte do Carro's players had a chance to rest. Jairo Anjos kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Valdemar Anjos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Albérico Igrejas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Valdemar Anjos, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Ponte do Carro fans cheered their team off the field, for while Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
