Augusto Stephen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fausto Ferraz having to interfere. Fausto Ferraz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mihály Medgyesi in the 14th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mihály Medgyesi in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fausto Ferraz saved S.E.R. Caxias do Sul from getting behind. In the 18th minute of the match, Rui da Costa got a very nice opportunity to score, but Zé Galvão was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ramiro de Lima during the 20th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 20 played minutes S.E.R. Caxias do Sul got a freekick which was hit by Ramiro de Lima. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mihály Medgyesi in the 21st minute of play forced S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's goalkeeper Fausto Ferraz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 27 minutes into the match, Percival Koehler notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Fausto Ferraz. Fausto Ferraz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Kauã Vander kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Caxias do Sul's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Augusto Stephen helped the player get up and apologised. In the 45th minute Mihály Medgyesi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fausto Ferraz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half Pombal 2003 F.C. were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Marcel Abreu stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Victor Aguiar kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. 55 minutes into the game, Pombal 2003 F.C.'s Mihály Medgyesi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Fausto Ferraz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-5. In the 59th minute Marcel Abreu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Galvão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul were awarded a corner in the 60th minute after Pombal 2003 F.C.'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. After 65 minutes, Mihály Medgyesi made it 0-6 with a short kick to the right side. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Fausto Ferraz tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Caxias do Sul's Dagoberto Esteves shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Zé Galvão came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in S.E.R. Pombal 2003 F.C. were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
