After 27 played minutes, La Ballenera's Jonathan Abeijon shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Nestor Vigil came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in La Ballenera reached it. In a very dangerous position, a player in La Ballenera fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 28th minute. Penalty! Edgardo Intxixu walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. If Cirilo Paublo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. Nestor Gasteiz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Roque Velasco went, in the 41st minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. La Ballenera's Nestor Gasteiz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cirilo Paublo in the 46th minute of play.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Eustacio Ubendu made a kick off. After some careless play in the La Ballenera defense, Cirilo Paublo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nestor Gasteiz. The La Ballenera fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nestor Gasteiz should have stopped the shot. Fecha Libre's Amado Henrico got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Cirilo Paublo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fecha Libre's supporters rose to their feet, but Cirilo Paublo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nestor Gasteiz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 68 minutes into the match, Cirilo Paublo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nestor Gasteiz. La Ballenera's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cirilo Paublo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. If Amado Henrico had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fecha Libre's Cirilo Paublo got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Amado Henrico took the ball and in the 76 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nestor Gasteiz. Nestor Gasteiz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-0. Cirilo Paublo took the ball and in the 78 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nestor Gasteiz. La Ballenera's Nestor Gasteiz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cirilo Paublo in the 89th minute of play. Nestor Gasteiz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cirilo Paublo in the 92nd minute of the match. Nestor Gasteiz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amado Henrico in the 95th minute of play. The supporters of Fecha Libre booed when La Ballenera was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rigoberto Jerardo didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Fecha Libre fans cheered their team off the field, for while La Ballenera had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
