With a couple of smart ball manuevers Percy de Azevedo in the 10th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cláudio Taffarel saved TAQUARI FC from getting behind. With a little luck, TAQUARI FC's Cláudio Taffarel got control of the ball when Percy de Azevedo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Augusto Ramos charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. In the 25th match minute, Bezerros EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luís Goiano to maneuver through the defense. Bezerros EC's Lauro Hoffmann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Eduardo Teixeira in the 25th minute of play. In the 27th minute, Luiz Quadros hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Bezerros EC's zone, Adriano Soares stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lauro Hoffmann came out of the goal and Adriano Soares tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Carlos Eduardo Teixeira scored 0-2 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Lauro Hoffmann, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 33rd play minutes Carlos Eduardo Teixeira shot 0-3, a short shot which went by Lauro Hoffmann and just under the crossbar into goal. Cleiton Palmeira struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Cláudio Taffarel didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bezerros EC. Carlos Eduardo Teixeira might have been able to make a better finish in the 40th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lauro Hoffmann. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Carlos Eduardo Teixeira ran back to his position shaking his head. Carlos Eduardo Teixeira blasted a shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Lauro Hoffmann having to make a save. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Carlos Eduardo Teixeira stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Lauro Hoffmann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. José Carlos Meireles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of TAQUARI FC booed when Bezerros EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís Goiano didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 77 minutes, Leopoldo de Salles mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bezerros EC and the TAQUARI FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 77th match minute, Bezerros EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leopoldo de Salles to maneuver through the defense. If José Carlos Meireles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cláudio Taffarel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Percy de Azevedo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bezerros EC's Lauro Hoffmann proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 91st minute of the match, managed to save Bezerros EC from getting a goal against them. Dedé Loyola's late challenge caught a TAQUARI FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dedé Loyola helped the player get up and apologised. Dedé Loyola hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. Luís Goiano hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match.
