Cássio Aguiar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eugênio Soeiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 2nd minute. Tiago de Azevedo charged in rather forcefully in the 7th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tiago de Azevedo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Tiago de Azevedo kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. INTER FC's Angelo Cerezo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Durvalino Esteves in the 11th minute of play. 12 minutes into the match, INTER FC's goal looked a bit too open when Chico Vidal came free, but Angelo Cerezo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Chico Vidal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alvinegro Carioca's Durvalino Esteves got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cássio Aguiar came out of the goal in the 25th minute to try and stop a shot by INTER FC's Oscar Arce. But to his dismay, Oscar Arce quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oscar Arce in the 28th minute of play forced Alvinegro Carioca's goalkeeper Cássio Aguiar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 30 played minutes Alvinegro Carioca got a freekick which was hit by Kauan Lara. In the 32nd minute, INTER FC's Oscar Arce dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. Benê Simão could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 35th minute of the match, but Cássio Aguiar made a huge save. 38 minutes into the match, INTER FC's goal looked a bit too open when Chico Vidal came free, but Angelo Cerezo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alvinegro Carioca's Cássio Aguiar proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 44th minute of the match, managed to save Alvinegro Carioca from getting a goal against them. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Oscar Arce to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Alvinegro Carioca's goal looked a bit too open when Oscar Arce came free, but Cássio Aguiar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 54th minute Tiago de Azevedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cássio Aguiar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Alvinegro Carioca booed when INTER FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dida Coelho didn't get a good kick on the ball. If César Mello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 61 minutes into the match, Alvinegro Carioca's goal looked a bit too open when Tiago de Azevedo came free, but Cássio Aguiar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alvinegro Carioca's Cássio Aguiar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oscar Arce in the 63rd minute of play. Durvalino Esteves's late challenge caught a INTER FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Durvalino Esteves helped the player get up and apologised. Durvalino Esteves hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. A collision led to Alvinegro Carioca getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Chico Vidal hit a great ball. If Chico Vidal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alvinegro Carioca's Cássio Aguiar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emerson Berger in the 75th minute of play. After 78 played minutes INTER FC got a freekick which was hit by Luisinho Barbosa. In the 85th minute Emerson Berger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cássio Aguiar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 89th minute, one of Alvinegro Carioca:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Alvinegro Carioca. In the 98th minute Oscar Arce shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cássio Aguiar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the referee ended the match the INTER FC players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
