Spectators: 196 (Terracing: 148, Seating: 45, VIP seats: 3) 3 minutes into the match, Southern Thrashers's goalkeeper Carman Jobson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sam Cudmore. When Kyle Watts fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Southern Thrashers's protests and gave Kyle Watts a yellow card for diving instead. Kyle Watts hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Olliver Todman got free with Carman Jobson in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 11th minute Ben Minton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carman Jobson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Olliver Todman could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Carman Jobson made a huge save. After 15 played minutes Australian Youth Academy got a freekick which was hit by Bickford Mcmillan. The supporters of Australian Youth Academy booed when Southern Thrashers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kyle Watts didn't get a good kick on the ball. Herman Heberle took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 22nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Carman Jobson. Southern Thrashers's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When Antony Cowdell fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Australian Youth Academy's protests and gave Antony Cowdell a yellow card for diving instead. Antony Cowdell kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. Southern Thrashers's Carter Hilton got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Carman Jobson made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Sam Cudmore sent off a good shot on target. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jones Schutt during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 29 played minutes Australian Youth Academy got a freekick which was hit by Jones Schutt. Southern Thrashers's Carman Jobson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bickford Mcmillan in the 33rd minute of play. A hard shot 34 in the game by Sam Cudmore from a close distance when the talented Carman Jobson managed to make a qualified save. Southern Thrashers's players were relieved. After having played for 35 minutes, Conner Mclatchey managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Southern Thrashers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Conner Mclatchey was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Carman Jobson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sam Cudmore, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Carman Jobson made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Ben Minton sent off a good shot on target. Carman Jobson came out of the goal in the 42nd minute to try and stop a shot by Australian Youth Academy's Ben Minton. But to his dismay, Ben Minton quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sam Cudmore was the one to do the kick off. After 51 played minutes Australian Youth Academy got a freekick which was hit by Antony Cowdell. When Dani Cochrane came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Australian Youth Academy fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dani Cochrane couldn't finish the play. In the 60th match minute, Southern Thrashers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Irwin Mcjunkins to maneuver through the defense. Carman Jobson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sam Cudmore in the 63rd minute of the match. Carman Jobson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ben Minton in the 65th minute of play. Carman Jobson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ben Minton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sam Cudmore in the 70th minute of play forced Southern Thrashers's goalkeeper Carman Jobson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Carman Jobson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ben Minton in the 71st minute of the match. When Conner Mclatchey came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Southern Thrashers fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Conner Mclatchey couldn't finish the play. 83 minutes into the match, Australian Youth Academy's goal looked a bit too open when Carter Hilton came free, but Braedan Shorten reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 84th match minute, Southern Thrashers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Irwin Mcjunkins to maneuver through the defense. Australian Youth Academy's Sam Cudmore got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Australian Youth Academy's Ben Minton got a free kick in the 88th minute. Carman Jobson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sam Cudmore in the 91st minute of play. Southern Thrashers's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
