Krister Alfors showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Niclas Jakobsson in the 9th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 11th minute, Niclas Jakobsson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Övertorneå RK's supporters rose to their feet, but Niclas Jakobsson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Krister Alfors breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 12 minutes into the match, Sebastian Malm had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Christer Ahlgren. Övertorneå RK's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sebastian Malm was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Övertorneå RK were awarded a corner in the 18th minute after Vallbyn FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Vilhelm Trulsson took the corner. Övertorneå RK's Vilhelm Trulsson was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Krister Alfors in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Vallbyn FC's Krister Alfors played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Niclas Jakobsson in the 21st minute of play. Sebastian Malm sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 24 minutes into the match, Vallbyn FC's goalkeeper Krister Alfors had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tage Falk. Niclas Jakobsson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Krister Alfors having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Niclas Jakobsson in the 31st minute of play forced Vallbyn FC's goalkeeper Krister Alfors to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 37th minute, Niclas Jakobsson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Krister Alfors was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. After a rather tough play, Övertorneå RK's Marcus Olsman got a free kick in the 44th minute. Vallbyn FC's Klas Falk got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Niclas Jakobsson in the 49th minute of play forced Vallbyn FC's goalkeeper Krister Alfors to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tage Falk to make the kick off. In the 54th minute, Niclas Jakobsson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Niclas Jakobsson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Krister Alfors having to make a save. Övertorneå RK's Christer Ahlgren proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save Övertorneå RK from getting a goal against them. Christer Ahlgren made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Sebastian Malm sent off a good shot on target. In the 85th match minute, Övertorneå RK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Niclas Jakobsson to maneuver through the defense. Vallbyn FC's Sandro Tonali was substituted for Fredrik Söderquist. After a rather tough play, Vallbyn FC's Ralf Gallberg got a free kick in the 87th minute. Krister Alfors made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Allan Pettersson in the 93rd minute of play. Sandro Tonali fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Christer Ahlgren having to interfere. Krister Alfors came out of the goal in the 97th minute to try and stop a shot by Övertorneå RK's Allan Pettersson. But to his dismay, Allan Pettersson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. For all the effort they put into the match, the Vallbyn FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Övertorneå RK.
