Pedro Luiz Matorin came out of the goal and Rui da Costa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 33 played minutes AS Pikachuzim got a freekick which was hit by Mazinho Diniz. In the 36th minute, Denílson Arantes made a precise shot to the right of Fausto Ferraz. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. After a rather tough play, AS Pikachuzim's Wilton Carneiro got a free kick in the 43rd minute. Marcel Abreu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 47 played minutes AS Pikachuzim got a freekick which was hit by Wilton Carneiro. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Marcel Abreu was the one to do the kick off. Marcel Abreu struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Pedro Luiz Matorin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for S.E.R. Caxias do Sul. In the 67th match minute, AS Pikachuzim was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wilton Carneiro to maneuver through the defense. In the 68th minute of the match Dagoberto Esteves sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Pedro Luiz Matorin skillfully saved the ball. The supporters of S.E.R. Denílson Arantes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fausto Ferraz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 90th minute of play. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Fausto Ferraz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Denílson Arantes in the 92nd minute of play. Rodolfo Pinheiro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 94th minute of the match, but Fausto Ferraz made a huge save. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Fausto Ferraz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Denílson Arantes in the 95th minute of play. The AS Pikachuzim supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing AS Pikachuzim would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
