After 3 played minutes Academica Pulheim got a freekick which was hit by Alwin Korte. Fausto Ferraz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Conny Stober in the 5th minute of play. 8 minutes into the match, Michael Paziorek notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Fausto Ferraz. Fausto Ferraz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 13th minute, Conny Stober hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Academica Pulheim's Dietrich Heppner got control of the ball when Marcel Abreu tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jari Anzengruber scored 0-2 in the 22nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Fausto Ferraz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Conny Stober took the ball and in the 25 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Fausto Ferraz. Fausto Ferraz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Academica Pulheim's Dietrich Heppner proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to save Academica Pulheim from getting a goal against them. Fausto Ferraz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Conny Stober, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dietrich Heppner showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kauã Vander, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Kauã Vander hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. In the 47th minute of the match Ramiro de Lima shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dietrich Heppner showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball.

Alwin Korte hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. In the 58th minute, Marcel Abreu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dietrich Heppner was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. Dietrich Heppner came out of the goal in the 63rd minute to try and stop a shot by S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Kauã Vander. But to his dismay, Kauã Vander quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. Academica Pulheim made a substitution. Noel Schaffert replaced Michael Paziorek. Fausto Ferraz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jari Anzengruber's shot from short distance in the 68th minute. In the 78th minute Rui da Costa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dietrich Heppner saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Academica Pulheim booed when S.E.R. Caxias do Sul was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kauã Vander didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Carlos Alberto Magalhães got a free kick in the 81st minute.
