When the match clock showed 3 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Hipólito Prestes sped through Stronghold S.A's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Basilio Soter. When Remigio Urdaspal fell near the penalty area in the 5th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Stronghold S.A's protests and gave Remigio Urdaspal a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of SLB TELHA booed when Stronghold S.A was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Remigio Urdaspal didn't get a good kick on the ball. Stronghold S.A's Basilio Soter proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 8th minute of the match, managed to save Stronghold S.A from getting a goal against them. SLB TELHA's Belchior Figueira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leandro Jesco in the 9th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Hipólito Prestes kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Basilio Soter. That made the score 2-0 in the 16 minute of play. Basilio Soter showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Moisés Malta in the 23rd minute of the match. After 26 minutes of play, SLB TELHA's Moisés Malta made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Basilio Soter was left in no man's land by his defense there! Basilio Soter made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hipólito Prestes in the 29th minute. Ronaldo Baião hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hipólito Prestes got free with Basilio Soter in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 33 played minutes Stronghold S.A got a freekick which was hit by Ubaldo Domenec. Basilio Soter was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Domingos Moreira. A collision led to SLB TELHA getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Ronaldo Baião hit a great ball. In the 39th minute, Gică Popescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 40 played minutes, SLB TELHA's Ronaldo Baião shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Basilio Soter came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in SLB TELHA reached it. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Moisés Malta managed to get in a good position for a shot. SLB TELHA's supporters rose to their feet, but Moisés Malta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Basilio Soter breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hipólito Prestes made a kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ronaldo Baião during the 54th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to SLB TELHA getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Ronaldo Baião hit a great ball. When Joaquim Regueira fell near the penalty area in the 57th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. Basilio Soter stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hipólito Prestes's shot from short distance in the 74th minute. 77 minutes had been played when some careless play by Stronghold S.A's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Ronaldo Baião was slow to take the kick. During this time SLB TELHA's players had a chance to rest. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Stronghold S.A's goalie and right to Domingos Moreira. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Stronghold S.A's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. SLB TELHA's Belchior Figueira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Amado Mero in the 80th minute of play. In the 84th minute, Amado Mero hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leandro Jesco in the 87th minute of play forced SLB TELHA's goalkeeper Belchior Figueira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Remigio Urdaspal's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Belchior Figueira read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play.
