The supporters of FC Traktor Götz booed when Timbau CSM was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nichifor Ghiță didn't get a good kick on the ball. Johannes Wimmer struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Nicu Moarcăș didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Traktor Götz. Benedikt Altpeter made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristi Chibulcutean in the 25th minute of play. Dorin Tănăsescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benedikt Altpeter having to interfere. FC Traktor Götz's Benedikt Altpeter played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristi Chibulcutean in the 30th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Juan Pietsch got free with Nicu Moarcăș in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 33rd minute, Niklas Verpoort hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Benedikt Altpeter showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dorin Tănăsescu in the 34th minute of the match. After 36 played minutes Timbau CSM got a freekick which was hit by Cristi Chibulcutean. If Alex Daniel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Niklas Verpoort hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in FC Traktor Götz's zone, Dorin Tănăsescu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benedikt Altpeter came out of the goal and Dorin Tănăsescu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After the first half Timbau CSM were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
